This series of images was photographed around the northern end of the popular shopping and entertainment area Xintiandi (lit. 'New Heavan and Earth'), in the vicinity of Taicang Road, Luwan district.
Xintiandi is in the heart of the city, just south of Huaihai (middle) Road and east of the North-South Elevated Road. Redeveloped by Shui On Land, the site features examples of reconstituted 'shikumen'-style buildings, and is home to a museum on the site of the first congress of the Chinese Communist Party. It is a popular spot for affluent residents and tourists, and is flanked by high-end commercial offices.
